Learn when to use the commonly confused English prepositions TO and FOR.

To is a preposition that is used with a word in the fourth case called as the dative case.
The preposition for is also used in the dative case but with a slight difference.
The preposition to indicates a movement of a person or a thing from one place to another or from one person to another.
On the other hand, the preposition for indicates the importance of a person or a thing for whom an action has been done.

سوف نوضح لكم الفرق بالتفصيل الممل والمفهوم

for

وتعني (لمدة – من اجل – الى - ل)
سأعيش هنا لمدة خمسة أيام
I will live here for five days
سأحبكِ للأبد.
I will love you forever
بمعنى – من أجل -
أنا أعمل هنا لأجلكم.
I am working here for you
وهنا جاءت بمعنى (اللام –ل-
هل صوتت للرئيس؟
Did you vote for the President?
بمعنى (الى)

بمعنى –الى- وغالبا ما يأتي المعنى حسب السياق
تعال إلـي.
Come to me

هو ذهب إلى كندا من 1990  إلى 1995.
He went to Canada from 1990 to 1995
2) إذا جاء على الصيغة to + Verb.1 فإنه يأتي بمعنى "لكي ، لـ".
أنا ذهبتُ إلى مطعم (لكي أكل/لأكل).
I went to a restaurant to eat
لكي تفوز، عليك أن تتدرب جيداً.
To win, you have to practice well
3) إذا جاء بين فعلين فإنه غالباً يأتي بمعنى "أنْ".
أنا أريد أنْ أذهب.
I want to go
أنا أريدك أن تذهب معي.
I want you to go with me
